IELTS test in Australia – December 2014 (General Training)

Thanks to two IELTS test takers R and D from Australia we can share the following Writing and Speaking questions (unfortunately they didn’t remember the Reading or the Listening topics).

Writing test

Writing task 1 (a letter)

You recently went on a business trip to another country and you faced an issue at the airport. Write a letter to the airport management and say

- What were the details of your flight?
- What was the problem at the airport?
- Give some suggestions for improvement.

Writing Task 2 (an essay)

Some people believe that subjects such as Music, Arts, Drama and Creative Writing will contribute a great deal to children’s development; therefore they should take a large part of the school timetable. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Interview

- What is your full name?
- Can I see your ID?
- Where are you from?
- Do you work or study?
- Do you live in a house or an apartment?
- Describe your hometown.
- Is it a good place to grow up?
- Do you like comfortable or fashionable shoes?
- How often do you buy shoes?
- Do you like to visit gardens or parks?
- What is your favourite one?

Cue Card 1

Describe a famous person who is not from your country. Please say

- Who is he/she?
- What is this person famous for?
- Would you like to meet him/her, and why?

Discussion 1

- What makes people famous?
- What are the benefits and drawbacks of being famous?
- Why do you think so?

Cue Card 2

Talk about something that you don’t know how to do, but would like to learn in the future. Please say

- What is it?
- Why would you like to learn this skill?
- How would you learn this skill?

Discussion 2

- What is the best way to learn about computers?
- Why do you think it is easier for young people to learn to use a computer compared to older people?
- Do you think a computer can distract children from their study? Why?
- Do you believe children are looked after in a child care centre better than at home? Why?
- Where can children learn discipline better, at home or at school? Why?
